A student visa is an official stamp placed on your passport by the immigration authority of Canada. The visa on your passport essentially states that you are eligible to seek entry to the country in order to live and pursue your studies for the stipulated amount of time.

You will typically need the following documents to apply for a student visa. Depending on the course and country you are applying to, you may need additional documents.

  • A valid Passport with a valid expiry date and at least two blank pages on your passport
  • Proof of acceptance to the university that you have applied for.
  • Documents to prove that you have access to enough funds to cover the cost of your stay and education.
  • Proof of being proficient in English such as test scores of IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL.

You will typically go through the following steps for your student visa application:

  • Your visa application will essentially start with an application to the college of your choice
  • Once you have received your acceptance letter then you will need to submit your application for a student visa

  • Once you have successfully applied for your student visa, then you should wait for the passport with the visa stamp to be delivered to you
